Do personal trainers need core business values?
A question that I’ve been pondering lately:
Do personal trainers need core business values?
If you Google "core values of personal trainers", you'll see things like honesty, integrity, teamwork, fun, dedication, passion, blah blah blah...
These are obvious values that aren't very useful when it comes to building a successful coaching business.
They're too vague and meaningless.
They're cliche and not authentic.
They fail to hold anyone accountable.
Why do you need core business values?
Protect The Asset E9 - Amy Bowe - Be True To You & Have Confidence In Your Story.
My guest today is Amy Bowe, owner and creator of warrior school, which teaches women how to train, to build strength and feel confident in their bodies.
Amy has been in the personal training and coaching game for 14 years. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share, and I really enjoyed our conversation.
I love Amy's confidence around who she is, what she does, who she serves and what her role is as a coach.
Amy shares her insights into building a business that stays true to her values and beliefs while also meeting her clients where they are at.
Not only does Amy have a super clear client niche, but there are certain prerequisites to joining warrior school and she's not afraid to say no to clients that are not a good fit for her program or who are not ready to start the program just yet.
She puts the best interests of their clients first and her super high standards and attention to quality has allowed her to build an online business that suits her lifestyle and pays her well.
I hope you're ready for a kick-ass episode.
Why Choosing A Niche Isn’t Pigeonholing Yourself
This is a widespread fear that personal trainers have.
I've helped a lot of clients realise that by choosing a niche, they aren't limiting themselves and that they are strategically setting themselves up for success.
I struggled with this idea of niching down in my own business.
I spent years talking about "sustainable training" (what does that even mean?) or trying to market my online personal training business with general holistic health and fitness advice.
During this time, client attraction was slow.
Protect The Asset E8- Jake Turner - Client Attraction & Building a Successful Online Career
My guest today is Jack Turner.
Jack was working in a Melbourne based gym when COVID hit. He was to move his personal training career online as gym in Melbourne were shutdown.
In hindsight, it's been a blessing for Jack as his online career grew quickly. In fact, it grew so quickly that Jack was close to burnout and he had to stop marketing his online services until he could find a way to free up more time.
We talk about system and processes, choosing a niche, online marketing, time management, mentors and Jacks future plans to build a team to help him manage the demand for his online company state of motion.
So grab your notebook and be prepared to jot down some of the tips and tricks Jack shares in this episode.
Protect The Asset E7- Ed Haynes - Taking Extreme Ownership
Welcome to the protect, the asset podcast, episode number seven. And today my guest is none other than Ed Haynes. Ed is the CEO and founder of coastal CrossFit, Hong Kong. He also runs an online group program called the process programming and he's the co-founder of earned athletics apparel.
How does this guy run three businesses, keep fit, manage your team, deliver a podcast, find time for a healthy work-life balance, and do so much.
I've known Ed since 2010, and I've watched his career grow from a distance. So it was great to reconnect with Ed and to hear about his career journey.
I was super inspired by so much of this conversation. And when I was going through trying to figure out the highlights, I was just highlighting everything.
There's so much to take away from this podcast.
We talk about leadership. We talk about extreme ownership. We talk about self-reflection, self-development, and we talk about company values. There are just so many gold nuggets throughout this conversation and I'll be listening to it multiple times. Anyway. I really hope you enjoy this episode.
Let's get stuck in.
Choosing a personal training niche can be confusing AF
A lot of online personal trainers are waking up to the idea of choosing a niche.
It's a good thing, as niche marketing is the best way to attract more clients online and build a sustainable career.
So you create a niche and add it to your Instagram bio and wait for it to start raining clients..
Nothing seems to happen.....
Did you do something wrong?
Is it the wrong niche?
"This niche marketing idea is BS, it doesn't work."
Becoming A Successful Online Personal Trainer
When I first started personal training, I had no idea how my career would evolve. I become a personal trainer because I wanted to have a rewarding career that helped people live a better life.
In the early stages of my career, I’d hang out at the gym and hope to attract clients by offering tip and knowledge bombs on the gym floor. Teaching group classes was another great way to get clients, as was client referrals from past and present clients.
My career aspiration were to build a successful online personal training career, but I hadn’t figured out how I was going to do it.
6-Tips To Help Personal Trainers Improve Social Media Engagement.
Often we fail to look at our social media content through the eyes of our audience.
The marketing strategy most personal trainers follow is "post and hope."
But…
3-Tips for marketing your online personal training services.
A lot of personal trainers feel overwhelmed by social media.
It can be intimidating.
As personal trainers and coaches, we're often trying to give people health & fitness related tips. We're trying to be helpful, but we don't really have a marketing strategy.
Our content looks and feels very random.
And yet, social media is an incredible way to….
Does food timing matter? Why eating more calories at night increases body fat.
Personal training constantly debate the idea that "a calorie is a calorie" and you need to "eat less to lose weight." Many people still believe that the only way to lose weight is to "eat less and move more."
